When I was just a little girl my father took me to a shelter to find a puppy. There were so many adorable puppies. I just couldn’t pick just one. As we were leaving to go back home I saw one of the girls who worked there walking an adult scruffy looking thing.
My dad and I went over to her and asked her about the dog. She told us this was his last walk. He was five years old and had been abandoned and was being put to sleep right away.
We took him immediately.
He lived a long and happy life and brought my whole family joy until he died at the ripe age of 16. Although his past was hard and it took a long time to get him to stop scavenging for garbage he was the most content loving pet I ever had and I will never forget my baby Toby.
