Guthrie by Leslie Steinbuch

It took me a long time
to find the right name for you,
but it was perfect when
I finally put one together:
“Mud Creek’s Brown Sugar Blitzen”
You had the most beautiful doe eyes…
I think of you whenever I see deer.

Oh peanut,we miss you so much.
We think about the fishing trips,
car rides, staying with Gramma & Grampa,
the long nature walks,
swimming in the pond,
playing with grapes,
rolling on the perfume ads and
smelling so good.
The nappies in our cozy bed.
staying with Mommie
at the firehouse and
learning a new trick from Doc.

We have so many happy memories..
but I am so sad.
I would have stayed with you
at the hospital if I thought
I was losing you,
but you were getting stronger..
Daddy came to see you later,
but you couldn’t hold on.
I feel so guilty for listening
to that vet..I knew better,
but I was so overwhelmed and
you were so sick so suddenly.
We don’t see him anymore..
he didn’t do everything he could have or
should have and
I will always regret
not pushing him to do more.

Hershey is doing okay now,
but I know he misses his big brother.
Dudley the Milk Dud has filled a huge void…
I swear that when he was born
that you stepped into his little body.
He does so many things
exactly as you did.
It makes me feel like part
of you is still with us.
Daddy and Mommie miss you more
than words can say and
we will always love you.

Keep Heidi, Missy, Butch,
Dammie, Ellie, Mandy,
and your great grandparents company
until we meet you at the rainbow bridge.

Hugs and Kisses,

Mommie, Daddy, & Hershey
