This a tribute to the stray kitten
that I passed on the way to work
this morning right after
he had been hit by a car.
He was struggling to get up
when I first saw him and
by the time I had swung into a lot and
turned around to help him,
I watched another car go right over him,
even though all three lanes were empty.

I pulled my Jeep up to block him
from getting hit again.
He was still barely alive
when I pulled up and I ran to get a blanket,
he passed on within
the next few minutes.

This is to remember him and
all the strays
that are killed everyday.
May they rest in peace.
