This tribute is for Lumpi, a very funny dog, whom I didn’t get to know.
My grandmother purchased him from a family who gave him away because he had bitten someone. My Mom still tells me the story of when they went to pick him up. She had to sit in the back seat with Lumpi, and she was so afraid he’d bite her, too. He didn’t. I think he was soo happy that he was finally going to live in a family who loves him. He has been a friendly and funny dog to my Grandmother and my uncle, showing no signs of being mean. There’s a story which I often hear about him. Lumpi loved treats, but he would not just eat them, he played around with them first. His game was to throw the cookie up in the air and then catch it! He usually did that in the kitchen. One day he throw a cookie high up in the air and it landed in the pot full of spaghetti!
It’s a memory which shows what a funny dog Lumpi was!
Two days before his passing, my uncle took him to the vet who said Lumpi had kidney failure. He kept him there. The last time my uncle saw him, he was sleeping in his basket, looking at peace. He passed away at the vet’s during the night.
I know he’s now playing with his treats at Rainbow Bridge, reunited again with his buddy Sascha.
Rest in peace. You’ll never be forgotten.
