Shadow by Sharlene Cosens / Mommy

You had a difficult beginning and a difficult end in life.

The 8yrs. that you were with me brought me so much happiness and joy.

I realize that you had abandonment issues from your past, which is what caused your possessive attitude. You didn’t want to share your mom and tried your best to keep the other dogs, the cats and horses away. When I realized why you had that attitude, I then found it acceptable, cute and quite flattering that I was so special to you. You were very very special to me.

Christmas time will no longer be the same. Watching you under the tree, protecting the gifts from the other animals became part of our tradition. You did a good job making sure that no one got near those gifts. I will miss the joy of watching you so excitedly opening your presents on Christmas morning.
You always knew which ones were yours.

I had an appointment to have you put to sleep the morning after you had passed. If only I had known what was to come. I could never ever have expected what was to happen and am so very sorry.

I am so glad that we got to share quiet time just an hour before your sudden and unexpected end. Thank god that I got to tell you that I loved you and that you were the prettiest dog, even with that growth on your face.

I thank you for your unconditional love.

Your buddy Ralphy was looking for you today.
He misses you too.

You certainly did live up to your name Shadow.
My little Shadow, always always by my side.

You are never alone Shadow. Mommy is always with you.
I miss you so very much.
