Socks, you were two days old when your mother died and God entrusted me with the survival of you and your six brothers and sisters. I burped you, fed you every three hours, moved all of you into my bedroom–and you became my “purpose”.
For five years now you laid beside me and followed my every movement. You knew what I was going to say before I said it. You amazed me. You were only five years old, the picture of health, but there were things working inside of you that I didn’t know about.
Just this morning I received a book by Cynthia Rylant entitled DOG HEAVEN. I read it and visualize you running in those green fields and chasing the geese in the pond. I will truly miss you. I turn and expect you to be there. God bless, sweetheart.
You're forever in our thoughts,
