A Tribute To My Friend Benny {THEDAWG} Hodges
The day I first saw you something inside me told me that we were going to be friends, I didn’t want to seem too excited to Denise so I played it cool but you gave her a huge smile and she instantly fell in love with just like I had … You came into our home and lives and became family and in return you gave us unconditional love even though you were scared and confused because of the way you had been treated in the past. It was different with us and you were faithful and loving to us from day one … You and I spent day after day just walking and driving to different places and getting use to your new life without the beatings and abuse because I loved you and I wanted you to have the best life possible and in a very short period of time you came to trust me.
As a family we sailed the seven seas and climbed tall mountains, visited places and that none of us had been to and had some great adventures. At all times all you wanted was to be with us because
we were a family and you loved us.
You touched many people with your huge smile; those that knew you couldn’t help but love you because you always made people feel good, like the times I was very homesick in early 2002 you would stay close and just you being there always made me feel better.
Your only crime was to love too much. Sadly you didn’t understand this and you thought that we expected you to do the things that caused so much trouble because your original owners kicked it into you every day to protect at all cost … I am sorry my friend.
We miss you so much Benny. You waiting at the door and getting excited when we got home. You being there when we were sad, your snoring, your waiting for cheese or meat when we are cooking. Your talking to us when you were happy or excited. Your coming to me for protection from storm and loud noises … Thank you for being with us and allowing us to share our lives.
All we have now is memories and photos, both of them we will cherish forever.
