Charley came into our lives last September. When I went to pick him up. The poor dog was so neglected he was definitely not a sight for sore eyes. He had bailing wire embedded in his hair so bad it was starting to go into his skin. He had mats over his eyes so bad he could not even see. he had mats in his rear making it to were he couldn’t “go” along with dried up feces in his bum hair. I felt so bad for him I couldn’t resist but to take him. when I drove away with him on my lap he started to lick my face uncontrollably.
I knew there I had my new best friend. When my husband was cleaning him up and shaving him he sat there like a perfect angel. He became our friend and part of the family.
Yesterday we were outside in the yard and my husband went to talk to our neighbor across the street and Charley took off barking excited as always. My husband yelled at Charley as this Ford Taurus station wagon came speeding down the road, all of a sudden I heard a thud and afterward squealing breaks. I took off screaming out of our yard horrified at what I was seeing and sat there holding my dog telling him I’m sorry and how much I loved him. Fortunately, it was quick and I’m sure painless. Now when I look out at the road there is a big blood stain in front of our house that
I wish would just go away.
Charley was our friend and we loved him very much. He showed his gratitude to us each and everyday that we took him away from the previous situation he was in, as we showed him our gratitude for coming into our lives.
He was a very loyal dog and he was very greatly loved. He will be missed and always remembered, and will forever remain in my heart as the sweet little Schnauzer
that was my best friend.
