Douglas Charles by Lee Anne Hebert / Love, Mom

The perfect cat you were to us all,
So congenial and friendly and yes, so tall;
A brother you were to all the rest,
Jimmy’s son was nothing but the best;
So many lost but you still stood strong,
Then the day came with Jena when all went wrong;
A part of you died when Jena had to leave too,
I tried everything to help fill her shoes;
Somehow it just didn’t work for you,
With each day that passed you became so blue;
The tears came flowing when your day came to be,
A day that I prayed I would never see;
Under the oak tree with Jena and Jim,
Is where you found peace deep within;
The tears still flow everytime I think of you,
In heaven you are and not at all blue;
For you and the gang are all together,
I’ll love you now and always forever.
