Dexterhaven by Cindy Newman / Dexterhaven

We adopted Dexterhaven and Chaucer from a wonderful pet shelter 14 years ago. We had to literally swear not to separate the 2 cats, as they had been together since birth. It was not a difficult decision for us. They were 2 of the most beautiful cats you’ve ever seen. Whereas Chaucer was loving and affectionate, “Dex” was
as mischievous as a cat could be.

On more than one occasion, he would try to get cookies out of a pastry box, pumpkin bread out of a closed gift box and eat the gravy in the gravy boat at Thanksgiving. Chaucer saved him many times when he was accidentally locked in the closet or somehow managed to get his rather large head in a Kleenex box or the chain of a vertical blind! You could tell how much Dex loved Chaucer
by the constant grooming he did of him.

I think it took a while before Dex finally came to trust us, but once he did he brought tremendous love to us and to all who knew him. We were lucky to have him and provide him with the love and nurturing that he needed. Dex will never be forgotten by myself, my sister or Chaucer and we thank him for all the joy he gave us!

With love always,
