Our beautiful boy left us yesterday morning. He had a brain tumor that came abruptly and without warning two weeks ago. Jake was no ordinary dog. He was the smartest dog I have ever seen. He would actually listen to the conversations people were having. He had a huge vocabulary and would tilt his head to the side when he recognized a word.
Jake was a superior athlete as well. He loved to play frisbee, which we would do several times a day (it was part of his bathroom routine). His favorite place in the world was my parent’s lake lot. He would go out on the dock and drop a tennis ball in the water himself to fetch if no one was out there to play with him. He could do this for hours. Jake also had a unique ability to slobber profusely. If you played ball with him you had to be ready for one slimy ball. Sometimes he would shake his head and the slobber would wrap around his nose and face. He was always good with kids and other dogs.
He had a perfect disposition, and was simply the perfect dog. We will miss him dearly and never forget him. Jake was the most rewarding experience of my life. I cannot imagine life without my buddy, he was the focal point of my life for ten years. We love you Jake! Thank you for enriching our lives.
