Sandy by ‘Auntie’ Suz / ‘Auntie’ Suz xxxx

Dear Sandy,

Today was such a sad day. Your Mum, Paul, Stephen and I were with you when you went to Rainbow Bridge. You were in alot of pain and it was the right time to let you go.

Remember when you had that operation to remove the tumour? I visited you in hospital and I am sure you always remembered that it was me who did visit you. We had that connection and you ‘told’ me through your eyes.

You have had a wonderful long life, your family really looked after you lovingly towards the end when your health wasn’t good. Even after Paul and I separated I hated seeing you deteriorate so I didn’t visit. I wanted to remember you how you were. But….I picked up some medication for you one night from the vet and I saw you then when I dropped it at your home. You didn’t look too bad I thought. I knew your health was fading, so I kept in touch about your progress. I told Paul to let me know when it ‘was time’ as I wanted to be there to hold your paw.

He rang me this morning and this afternoon at 2.35pm, you went to Rainbow Bridge. We were all there with you. It was very peaceful. I was holding you gently, and you fell asleep. I told you your Daddy (Paul’s father who had passed away) was waiting for you, and my Polly and Waffle would be there too.

Sandy you are now free from pain. You can run the fields and frollick again. I truly hope you really were ready to go. It is so hard for any of us to have to make that awful decision. The vet did say he thought something else bad was going on inside you because you had some yellow tinge on your gums and in your eyes.

I know I asked you to send me a feather when you get to Rainbow Bridge. I will look out for it.

Thank you Sandy for being a sweet doggie. I am going to miss you.

With my love, until we meet again,
Sandy
