Millie was a great friend and a huge part to our family. My mom rescued her from the pound when I was a year old. She was in one of the back kennels with her mother, and a couple brothers and sisiters. She stood out from the rest because she had huge floppy ears, was fuzzy, and had huge feet. So she came home, and my sister and I were ecstatic!! A puppy!! She lived peacefully with us for years, until our house burned down in a tragic electrical fire.
We soon found the home we’re living in now, with acres of fields, woods, and lakes. And the best part about it, was that it was all Millie’s!!(Millie was allowed to roam free, for she was very obedient and loyal, and would never think twice about running away.)She was a very laid back, watch-dog kind of dog.
But just over the summer, I noticed Millie wanted to stay outside, and she never wanted to come in. She crawled under the cool, basement, and didn’t come back out. I took the bottom of a dog house, padded it with pillows and blankets, gave her a huge bowl of water, some meat, bread, and mashed potatoe scraps, and she didn’t move from where she was laying, so I pat her on the head, and went back inside. The next day, when I checked on her, I noticed she was lying in the bed I made for her, and the food was gone. As I began to change her food and water bowls, I noticed something different. She didn’t give me her usual eye look as if to say hello. I walked over to her, and she must’ve passed late last night, or in the early morning.
I told my mom, and my dad came home from work to bury her. We buried her under the cedar trees with all of our other passed on friends. Millie lived almost 14, very long, but short years. I looked up to Millie as if she were a big sister. Millie was a cool Mutt, and still is!
I love you Millie, and I long to see
you again!!!
With love your friend,
