I’ve broken down and cried,
For my wonderful familiar friend
Who was always at my side,
My days are now so empty
My nights seem twice as long,
I have no-one to comfort me
When everything goes wrong,
You watched my every movement
You knew when I was sad,
You helped me through my darkest days
The best friend I ever had,
But I sent you on a journey
So you’d be free from pain,
Even though I knew
I would not see you again,
Your little bark is silent
Your eyes no longer see,
Your ears no longer hear me
Why did this have to be,
I was the one who put a halt
To all your pain and fear,
Now I’m the one paying the price
Because you’re no longer here,
I live my life in sadness
I see through veils of tears,
I’ll miss you every single day
Through my remaining years.
