Scout by Gail & Leon / the big man and woman

Scout, you came into our world less than two months ago. A starving baby kitten with your sister as your only companion. Some cruel human dumped you out and you found your way to our barn where you and Gracie immediately adopted a couple of dog people.
We fed you, got you to the vet for shots and you both have been growing so fat and healthy and so loving of humans. And even tho we couldn’t bring you into the house because of the “big” dog, you were coming to terms with her and I believe on your way to making friends. I’ve never known a sweeter kitty and I had hoped to see you grow into an old man. But that’s not to be. On one of your “scouting” trips, you were probably enthralled by something on the road, one of the stupid humans around here sped through the street. It was dark. I hope you never felt a thing.
Even though we only knew each other a short time my heart is broken as I had come to love you and your sister. I just don’t know what Gracie is going to do without you. Who will groom her and who will try anything first while she watches, who will she curl up with in the box on a cold winter’s night? And Scout, the “big man”, who always said he didn’t want a cat, came to care about you and is affected by your loss.
I hope, itty bitty kitty, that you’re in a better place and we’ll do our best to love and take care of Gracie for you.
