My Dearest Friend,
U-CDX Linden’s Sir Victory’s Legacy, CDX, Can. CD, ASCA CD, HIT, TC, CGC, TDI
The Sun is setting on our time together, My Dearest Friend.
You will never know the effect you have had on my life.
I’m the person I’ve become because of you.
You were my security blanket, you kept me safe.
Because of you I have become independent and strong.
Because of you I’ve learned the value of patience and persistence.
Because of you I know the true meaning
of unconditional love.
Through all of these years, you have never left my side.
You’ve been the constant in my life
that has never judged or criticized.
You’ve rejoiced with me during my happy times.
You’ve lain with me to give comfort when I have been sick.
You’ve protected me when I felt unsafe.
Because of you I’ve met the most wonderful friends a person could have.
Because of you I’ve never felt alone.
Because of you I’ve learned that the things you want most in life don’t come easy.
As I watch you starting to slip away from me I think of all the
wonderful things we shared together.
I remember you lying with your head on my belly
while I was pregnant.
I remember how proud you were when Olivia came home;
she was your baby…not mine.
I remember how happy you made people that were bedridden;
how they longed for the feel of your fur between their fingers.
You have brought joy and laughter to so many,
if only you knew how many lives you’ve touched.
Even now as I lie crying beside you,
you worry about me and lick the tears from my face.
I prayed that God would take you peacefully in your sleep
and save me the misery of this decision.
You have always wanted the best for me, and me for you.
You will leave me as proud and dignified as you have been your whole life.
You always walked so proudly when you were with me; ears forward, chest out.
I was your pet, you are my treasure.
Wait for me at the Bridge,
My Dearest Friend,
we will run and play together again.
This I Promise.
You will be always on my mind, forever in my heart.
