We adopted Becky Sue at 3 years old through the Old English Sheepdog Rescue Club. She was very shy and for the first three weeks she did not come out from behind my chair. But after alot of loving, she finally started to adapt to us.
Well, to make a long story short, she turned out to be the best dog we could ever have asked for. She was so easy to talk to and she understood everything you said to her. She followed me all over the house. She was the best companion and such a comfort when I needed one. She will always be remembered for her unconditional love. She also was a clown as most Old English Sheepdogs are but she also was very smart too.
She loved Bananas! She loved to go camping with us. She just loved to be with us. We are so lost without her.
Suddenly, and I mean suddenly, in January 2003, just 2 weeks after her 14th birthday, she took sick. The xrays showed that her intestines were pushed in by a tumor. She only had two choices. One was to do surgery and remove part of her intestines, or put her to sleep. Unfortunately, we had no other choice than to put her to sleep. The doctors all said that she was bad and in pain and probably wouldn’t make it through the surgery. She also had bad arthritis in her hips and legs. So how much more could she have endured. She was 14 years old. It was the hardest thing to do. So I called the doctor and he came to our house and in my arms she went to sleep. She knew I was there with her and she was where she wanted to be HOME.
We can’t say enough about her. It has been 3 months now since she has been gone and we still can’t get over it. I guess we never will. It is such a loss for us.
Becky we loved you very much and you will always be in our hearts. Thank you for all your unconditional love and comfort and companionship that you always gave to us. Thanks for all the great memories that you have left in our hearts. We miss you terribly. Life just isn’t the same without you.
Love,
Becky Sue |
