Chiquita by Barbara Karsnitz / Mommy

Chiquita, you were my gift from God.
Such a sweet soul will never be forgotten.
My life doesn’t feel right without you, though you are never far from me. I carry you in my heart.
I miss the sound of you breathing beside my bed at night and the rattle of your collar.
There is no one to sing with me when I play the flute.
I still see you jogging down the street in front of me when I walk. I used to look at you and think how beautiful you were.
Everyone loved you. The children would stop to pet you and say how soft you were.
You introduced me to all my neighbors.
I loved walking with you in the gentle snows in the quiet nightime.
You were the Mighty Explorer who went hiking with me.
I miss your face at my door and you peeking through my curtains. It’s no fun coming home anymore. My house just doesn’t seem important.
God blessed my life the day you picked me.
I carry you in my heart and can’t wait to be with you again in heaven.
I hope you are playing nice with the bunnies.
You were my gift from God.

I love you Cheeters
