When we brought you home from the pound you were such a ragged looking little guy, we could hardly tell you were a Shih Tzu. You were running away from home and it took 4 joggers to catch you. When the animal control officer saw the conditions you had been living under she made them sign you over to her. Spunky, who had been to Doggie Designs, the day before, took one look at you and in her Shih Tzu way, told you she wasn’t going to sit next to you, soooo you went to the last row of seats in our van. We stopped at Bolton Vet on our way home where you were thoroughly checked and you also had a bath—-wow, what a difference! When you finally had your first appointment, got another bath, all trimmed up, nails cut etc., came out wearing your scarf like your new sisters, you were so proud of yourself. Jim, your new dad wanted you to have an Irish name, so with the help of the girls at Bolton Vet, you were named Seamus.
You were always so good, so gentle and easy to love. With the help of your doctor, you were judged to be around 14 years old today and you were getting tired like most senior citizens. Your eyes had never been good and you could not hear. The past couple of days you wouldn’t even take a drink of water or food that I specially prepared for you and your little legs would just collapse under you. Last night I cuddled you up in your little puff and you came to bed with your Mom. During the early hours, I sensed you were running happily towards your Dad who is now also in Heaven. I am so grateful that you were home with me, happy and just left to be with Dad so peacefully while you slept close to me. God planned it that way.
I love you so much and am sad tonight because I miss you. Spunky, Julie and Sandy, your doggie sisters miss you too. We don’t think anyone should pass by a special little doggie at a shelter who looks up at you with eyes that say, “take me home”, that is genuine love and loyalty.
With love always,
