It was you, sweet Teddy, who chose me, that lucky day – St. Patrick’s Day, March 17, 2000, when I walked into the Lincoln County Humane Society and first beheld you in all your red and white furry gorgeousness.
You put your paw up to the cage and looked directly into my eyes. We both immediately fell in love, my dear. You needed me, I needed you.
You carried me for 6 years while I dealt with the sudden death of my husband. You gave me a reason to get up in the morning. You were a loyal, faithful, loving family member.
I lived for you…but then only 6 years later, you lived for me especially in the last week. I struggled in vain to help you live. But fighting the failure of the only kidney you had left was too much to overcome.
I loved you purely, deeply, faithfully right up unto the end when I had to call your Grandma, my Mom to take you to Jesus. I found much to my disappointment, I lacked the courage to be at your side for the deed to be done.
I picture you sitting on His knee, richly purring as you always do, contented, safe and well. You were my first cat – my love, no one will ever take your place. You taught me alot about life and love, without ever saying a word, okay…the occasional meow, purr and sometimes hiss!
I love you Teddy, my sweet baby boy.
You are free now.
Until we meet again at Rainbow Bridge.
