Cygnet by Morgan lackey / Morgan

My first horse ever was Cygnet, my parents bought him for me on January 1st, 1994, I was seven years old. Cygnet was a school horse at Bear HIll Farm (Victoria Canada) and was loved by all the students. I moved him to my family farm and from there we spent all our time together. Horse shows (winning tons of ribbons), trail rides, bathing, grooming and throughout all that time learning new things together.

Cygnet died on July 26, 1999 at the age of 38 years old. I took him on a pleasant sunset trail ride before complications started. I came back home and my mom sad “Something is wrong” The vet said his intestines were twisted and surgery was predicted fatal. I braided some strands of hair from his mane, gave him a hug & kiss and passed him onto my mom, who walked him onto the trailer. The vet put Cygnet down at 10pm at Pendine Farms (Victoria, Canada).

Cygnet is now laying beneath a huge oak tree with his faithful friend Revel; I am sure he is running in green fields and having the time of his life.

“The love for a horse is just as complicated as the love for another human being…If you never love a horse, you will never understand.”
