Oscar by Curkov Family / The Curkov Family

Oscar came into our family when he was 15 months old. Nervous – because we did not own a dog before, we jumped right into being dog owners with a rather large job; Oscar was a Rottweiler. His previous owner did not want him anymore because he grew too big but we knew Oscar
was a nice dog.

He grew on us quickly. With his loving, pleasing and sometimes humorous personality, we were always telling him what a good boy he was. He truly was “a good boy”. He brought us so many smiles and happy memories. He loved to play catch, swim, eat (anything), snow, chase squirrels, play with other dogs, including his dog brother Rocky and
he loved people!

He loved hanging with his human brother Nick and sleeping in his room with him. They were best friends. His other human brother Mike loved him very much too.

His human Dad Frank, and he were great buddies and spent many hours together, just the two of them hanging out. Oscar should have received a rather extensive schooling on baseball, football and basketball viewing! He learned this by watching his Dad and brothers play with their sport teams at the local parks and by watching the professionals with Dad and family on the television. He enjoyed that, especially when he got a pretzel too!

Mommy wasn’t so sure she liked the hair and drool at first but after awhile she got used to it and Oscar began to follow her around more than she had ever had expected. While working on the computer, Oscar would sit on the floor at her side. While cooking in the kitchen, there was Oscar for her to step over. He would quietly wait for her to drop something, because she always did. With Oscar in the house, Mommy always felt safe at all times. She knew he would guard and protect her and her family.

As we watched our best friend suffer, our hearts were broken. Oscar had cancer and it was terminal. We lost him on October 12, 2006 and we miss him terribly. Our family lost a member. As we miss our loving companion, we will never forget him. He is in our hearts always.
