Jack Bomber by Wes & Sue / Dad & Mom

Jack was the very best friend & companion we could have asked for. He grew from the rough & tumble, fun-loving & affectionate puppy we brought home into a gentle, loving & devoted companion who loved us with all his heart & wanted us to do the same for him (which we did). He was very family-oriented & was never happier than when the three of us were out on a walk or on some other activity that involved the three of us. He would “equal time” – spend a little time with each of us in turn during a quiet evening together. He loved to curl up with one of us & his afghan to watch a movie, or to sit with us & watch the birds & squirrels in the back yard for hours at a time. It didn’t take long for him to work his way into sleeping with us, & while he tended to crowd us toward the edge, many’s the night when I woke up with his small body pressed right alongside mine in a loving expression of closeness & comfort, or stretched between us, trying to touch both of us.

He loved the outside (except when it was raining), & wanted to stop & sniff every blade of grass on every walk he took. He hunted night crawlers on summer evenings, & if we weren’t careful he’d drag us along on winter walks until suddenly his feet got cold & we’d have to carry him back down the driveway.

He had a feisty spirit – he wanted what he wanted, & he had no trouble letting us know what that was, whether it was food, or a walk, or to sit with him, & many’s the time we laughed at the stripe he got up his back if he didn’t get what he was asking for.

Earlier this year, when we were taking him for shoulder therapy at an animal rehabilitation center, he got so used to riding in the car with us that he became convinced he should go everywhere with us. He would get quite angry when we would go out the door without him. He saw us through so many life transitions. He was such a good boy & he took very good care of us.

Jack Bomber, our hearts are aching without you here, buddy. But we are comforted knowing you are strong & well again at Rainbow Bridge. We’ll always love you all to pieces, our favorite puppy in the whole wide world. You’re the very best of boys.

Until we meet again,
Jack Bomber
