We had to put our special cat Peaches to sleep today. We were very blessed to have her for so many years as we did. She was born from a stray mama cat
in some bushes in a vacant lot.
Our family rescued the mama cat and the kittens; we found homes for the mama and the other kittens and kept the orange one we named Peaches. She was very affectionate and attached to her family; she was not a loner nor did she like to “keep to herself.” She was always wanting to sit on someones lap or be close to us in one way or another. This will hurt for a long time, but as time passes we will remember the fond times and spend less thinking of having to put her to sleep. It was God’s time for Peaches to go; she was very old and had suffered a stroke as well as kidney failure. Spending money to keep her alive would have given her 2 months at the most and probably not much comfort. Somewhere….
In God’s time, another stray cat will show up at our door, or we’ll end up taking a kitten that would have ended up going to “the pound” as we have done before. We have had several cats and they always have lived to at least 15 or so. I guess that means we’re a good cat family.
We will miss you always, Peaches. But we will also come to a time and place where the pain has subsided enough so that we can look at your pictures and laugh and smile-and realize how thankful we were to have you in our family.
Thank you, funny Peaches!
