Susie was a loving and kind hamster. When we went to the pet store to pick out our perfect pet, Susie was a cute little fluffball and stuck out right away. She and her sister, Roxy, were running and jumping, trying to get our attention. Their efforts paid off because we knew they were supposed to be ours and immediately took them to their new home.
Susie was always the shy one. She was very cautious and careful in everything she did. At first, she was so shy that she didn’t even want to come out and play. So dad decided to sing her the Pink Song “Get the Party Started”. Amazingly, she responded to this and would come right up to the edge of the cage and if we opened the door she would slowly creep out. Dad would sing this to her everynight and she slowly warmed up to us and her new home.
Susie was always responsive to human voice, even at the very end. As she was lying sick, waiting to go to heaven, dad sang to her and she would move her little leg, as though she wanted to get up and go see him.
Susie’s final resting place is in Central Park overlooking a beautiful pond, and only a few feet away from her brother, Hank. Susie will be remembered as being very smart, shy, and sweet. She was also a beauty, and we always told her that if there were a hamster beauty contest she would have won. She lived life to the fullest and was running in her ball and climbing up the side of her cage up until the day before she passed away. She taught us how to be patient and persistent and we will always love and miss her dearly. She brought us a great deal of joy and also comfort when we lost her sister, Roxy, very unexpectedly. We are very happy to know that she is in heaven, enjoying endless amounts of spinach, brocolli, and yogurt chips with her brothers and sisters, Goldie, Gus, Ben, Becca, Abby, Rose, Schnookums, Hank, and Roxy and know we will be reunited with her someday.
We love you Susie!
