We adopted Chaucer and Dexterhaven 14 years ago from a wonderful pet shelter. They advised us that we needed to go into the “bonding room” with the 2 cats. That cinched it for us, as Chaucer literally put his arms around us! He was not just beautiful, but loving and affectionate, as well.
I will never forget the time he saved Dexterhaven by alerting us to the fact that Dex’s rather large head was caught in the chain of the vertical blind, or when Dex accidentally got locked into the closet!! He did, though, sometimes show his dark side (the Grandma, Julia side). If you showed love to Dex, he could get jealous and bite you at times. After Dex passed, he never again bit me – he knew he was my only baby then!
When he was diagnosed with CRF on 6/4/07, I knew it would be a difficult and painful road that lay ahead. I had to administer Sub-Q’s 2x daily. As the sweet and loving cat he was, he patiently accepted them. He was not as docile about his other meds, however, and his inappetant was what could no longer be helped.
Chaucer has taught me that love is truly unconditional and that the body may cease, but its spirit and joy will
live in perpetuity.
With our love always, you will never be forgotten,
