Nikki by Tom & Rosemary Chetney / Mommy, Daddy, TJ & Grace and all your Furry Brothers and Sisters

There is such a big empty hole in our lives right now, there was no dog like Nikki. She was a Shepherd/chow mix and when we went to adopt her the shelter was leery because we had small children, chow’s are not known to be great dogs with children. We spent time with her and in our hearts we knew she was going to be a great family member, and she proved it over and over. She was the sweetest, gentlest dog ever, the best disposition and so happy all the time. When we first adopted her she was very skittish and skinny…oh she was so skinny, when you went near her she would cower as though waiting to get hit, it broke our hearts. After much love and living with us, her spirit started to come back, she started to trust again and we never let her down, she thrived in our home and became self-assured, she knew she was loved and nothing bad was ever going
to happen to her again.

She and my husband had a very very special bond, he was her Daddy and she was his girl. When his car would pull in the driveway at night, she would be waiting right behind the door for him….Daddy was home and they were going for a walk….My Husband would walk her no matter what time he got home, I remember many nights when he got home after midnight or 1:00 A.M. and he would take her for her walk, she loved her Daddy with her whole heart and soul and he loved her the same….his heart is so broken right now. We will always remember the love we shared, she was the first dog we got as a family and now a piece of our family is missing….

Thanks for listening…Nikki, We love you with all our hearts, there is an empty place in them now, but we know wherever you are your are free and whole.

Until we are together again......,
Nikki
