Ashley was a Christmas gift in 1987 from a friend who was a big fan of the book and movie “Gone With The Wind,” hence, the name. I got her as a kitten and was blessed to have her for the 21 years she lived, by far my longest-living pet! At age 16, Ashley was diagnosed with a very slowly-progressing kidney ailment. Thankfully, she held her own against this condition for nearly five more years. Just weeks after she celebrated her 21st birthday, I could tell she was failing, so I made the difficult choice to let her go. Her vet took one look at her and said, “it’s time,” reassuring me that I wasn’t giving up on her too soon. Up until about 24 hours before, she’d been eating, drinking, moving around at will, and using the litter box, but when all that stopped, I knew. It’s now been eight months since I had to let her go, and I know I’ll always miss her. She was a beautiful cat!
With Love,
