Ranger Danger of Labrador Retriever
Pick up the ball and he got the fever
With a bark that could shatter eardrums
And a snout that could dispatch food crumbs
He stole our hearts like all dogs will
And set the record of highest vet bill.

A dog so full of energy and love
He looks down on us from up above
For we lost him on a fateful day
A day I knew would come someday
But not so quick and not so soon
I got the word just after noon.

I’ve never felt a loss so deep
With leash in hand on knees I weep
My pup has left a gaping hole
As empty as his favorite bowl.

I keep expecting to hear his feet
Click and clack his nails beat
But there is silence and nothing more
No whining beyond the back garage door
When tears are falling a lot like rain
Even Mocha can feel our pain.

Rest in peace my faithful friend
