Mama Kitty Calvert by Alan and Cathy Calvert / Cathy and Alan

Mama Kitty was just the most precious wonderful friend. She was a feral cat who came into our lives in the late 90’s. She was such a good mother that she was populating the neighborhood with healthy kittens. I began to feed her the summer of 1999 when she appeared to be once again pregnant hoping to adopt she and her kittens and get them fixed. After doing that she lived contentedly in our back yard for most of 11 years. Two of her kittens survived kittenhood though sadly one became very ill and died in 2005.

I was not a cat person but learned so much from her. She adopted me as her human and eventually even showed affection to my husband.

She became ill in September. We were able to get her to the vet twice and she seemed to be recovering then appeared to have a stroke. On Saturday, Nov. 6 we gathered her up and she peacefully went on to chase butterflies and rainbows across the rainbow bridge.

I love you and miss you so much Mama Kitty. Alan, Furball and the dogs miss you too. We are taking good care of Furball and he is doing well. You are so precious and will live on in our hearts forever. Goodbye precious kitty.

With so much love always,
Mama Kitty Calvert
