Rambo was a beautiful peach spotted Persian with sparkling green eyes that we found thin and unkempt in July eating the bread we put out for the birds. We gave him food and water and he started to visit every day. He was friendly from the start. After awhile he recognized our car and would always greet us when we came home. He would roll on the ground begging for a tummy scratch and love. When he didn’t show for his breakfast we went looking and found him on the highway, like we’ve found so many other unloved, unwanted precious animals. We will bury him tomorrow morning near his other fallen cousins. It’s just amazing how such a brief relationship can impact a heart. I’m glad he experienced a little love and caring in his life.
I just pray that the people who own these precious animals would keep them inside where they are safe instead of letting them roam especially when you live near major highways. I regret not taking him to a shelter where he could have been adopted by someone who would care for him forever.
Forever in our hearts,
