For my beautiful babykitten Carol-

Thank you for all you gave me- for the light in the darkness when all seemed lost- there you were to light my way. Your tiny little body would defy gravity, soar up trees, chase squirrels, roll on the sidewalk in the warm summer sun. Every time I eat now, I remember how you’d stand with two legs on my knee, waiting for me to share each meal with you.

You warmed my heart every day, every night you’d guard my dreams by my side. The day I woke up and you were too weak to move, it broke my heart. I wish I had done more for you sooner, I could come up with excuses why not, but deep in my heart I know you understand.

One day when I am through with this weary world, I hope to find you curled up at my side, licking my face, forever together, never to part.
