From that first hot July day when I spotted you at the animal shelter, it was a given you would be my girl. You followed me everywhere – even to the bathroom. For 12 years, through good times and bad, we were there for each other. It broke my heart to let you go, but I couldn’t let you suffer. I could see how tired you were even though you never complained. We could deal with the heart problems, but when the doc found cancer, I knew you were hurting.
So my angel, hang on to that piece of my heart that you took with you, and I’ll hold the piece of your heart that you left with me close. Every night, I still look at the stars – just like we used to do together. Save me a place in Heaven for one day, I’ll join you. And remember, precious Midnight, I’ll always love you. Always!
