Tulip by Dana R. Davis / Mommy

Tulip, you were my special girl in several ways. You were my first guinea pig. You were also special because you suffered with congestive heart failure these past five years. I called you my little ‘heart pig’.

I loved you from the moment you were put in my lap at the rescue. I’ll always love you and you will have a special place in my heart.

My, you were a feisty girl! I remember one time I was reaching into your cage to get you and you wanted no part of it. You reared up in your litter pan and ‘brrrrrd’ at me. You would snap if I tried to pick you up with my bare hands. I would herd you into your little carrier so I could take you out for some floor time or lap time. You never were much for sitting still on my lap. After a few minutes, you would let me know you were ready to return to your cage by picking at my clothes with your teeth.

You really loved your hay! You would get so excited when you knew I was topping off your hay rack and would dive in, head first. I have many happy memories of you eating hay.

You were always a small girl, but lost so much weight this past year as you went into old age.

Last night, you showed no interest when I fed you your bedtime snack and supper. I sensed your time was near as you were breathing heavily. I stayed up with you all night, loving on you and feeding you what I could.

This morning you were worse. You could barely chew the mash. I knew you would not live much longer so I made you as comfortable as possible. I held you and told you it was okay to go to the Rainbow Bridge and how much I love you. You have always been a really good girl.

I was blessed to have you in my life these five years.

Enjoy the Rainbow Bridge in perfect health. Just think! Now you can popcorn, run laps, and eat all the third cut Timothy hay your little heart desires! Say hello to the gang.

Until We Meet at the Rainbow Bridge.
Love,

Tulip
