Schoep was not my dog, in fact we never met. He shared his life with a man named John. They had a bond of love, trust and devotion that remains after Schoep’s passing. John rescued him from a shelter when Schoep was 8 months old. Some time later, during a dark time in John’s life, Schoep returned the favor and rescued John. For nearly 20 years they were one-living together, caring for each other and enjoying their life.
There’s a moment of disbelief when the inevitable happens. Then there’s the reality that one leaves the world and one stays behind. A heart is broken. So it is with John as he must move forward without his beloved Schoep.
Although we never met, I admire and love Schoep for everything he was to John and for everything he did for him. They are two very special souls who came together in life and will be reunited in death.
“Goodbyes are not forever.
Goodbyes are not the end.
They simply mean I’ll miss you
until we meet again.”
In Loving Memory of Schoep,
