Finnegan was taken home by the Schatzels on Black Friday of 2011 from Syracuse New York as a puppy. His father was Dugan, a well loved Wheaten. Finnegan howled all night long and that was a characteristic that stayed with him as a hallmark trait through his life. He was an extremely sweet, yet opinionated companion who loved his family and kept us all company, and was very much the centerpiece of our daily life. He enjoyed walks to South Park pond to listen to the bullfrog, rubbing himself all over the furniture, and most of all; he loved his tree in the front yard. Finnegan was diagnosed with lymphoma in 2024, and underwent chemotherapy and radiation. After several months in remission, his cancer returned, and he gradually lost use of his legs. He was peacefully put to sleep surrounded by his whole family and his favorite toy, by a vet that shared our affection for Finn. His absence is deeply felt and his presence missed by all who knew him. Rest in peace, good boy.
