THIS ISN’T GOODBYE
-Written for and dedicated to Dr. Shelia Rice-
You were his vet through good times and bad;
He’s not with us anymore which makes me sad.
I didn’t want him to suffer and didn’t want him in pain;
We decided to put him down, in hopes that it was humane.
You understood the relationship he and I shared;
Your feelings came through and we all know you cared.
You saved his life once and gave us more time;
But in the end your heart was broken just like mine.
Otis really loved you and so do I
You’re a part of our family so this isn’t goodbye.
He’s in Heaven and will be watching from above;
With his tail a wagging he’s sending his love.
