Willie by Michelle and Tom Kissel / Mommy

My wonderful boy Willie came into my life as my life was changing in 1996.
A close friend of mine Joanne was moving in with her boyfriend who was allergic to cats and so she gave Willie to me saying she wanted him to be well cared for.
Joanne passed away very quickly from cancer not 6 months after and looking back I know Willie was God’s gift to me as he was part of her.
Willie cared for me as much as I for him. He was always there with little quiet meows and the cat embrace of lying on my chest and giving me a bath on my face or neck.
When I was upset he was always near me. He always took his naps somewhere in my vicinity whether it was within eye or earshot.
His passing was very fast. He just fell asleep in one is usual napping spots at the bottom of the stairs. He had not been ill. I’m so glad he did not suffer.
I already miss him so badly.
I keep expecting him to jump onto the sink ledge and meow for water or jump onto the bed when I’m having a snack and try to get a little piece of whatever he found tasty.
I am just so grateful that God allowed me to have him for 14 glorious years.
My baby boy is now over the Rainbow Bridge probably playing with his brother Sami and patiently awaiting the day when I will join them and hold out my hands so he can run to me and show me his love once again.
Willie I will miss you and will never ever forget you. You are my “Sobriety Cat”. Part of all that I am today is because of you and I love you sooooooooooo much for being mine.
Be good my sweet boy.
