Where is my friend
Who held my head?
Who cradled me
A comfort bed?
Who fed me treats
And kept me near
Who whispered love
Into my ear?
Where is my pal
Who combed my back
Who carried me
Just like a sac?
Who put his pain
Before my own
For him, I write
My goodbye poem.
I loved you when I chased your feet…
I loved you when you gave me meat…
I loved the way you loved my Mom
You held our hearts inside your palm.
You made my life a living gold
Of riches, love, and wealth untold.
A glorious retreat for me
A special loving family tree.
I’ll climb that tree
One branch by one
And wait for you in setting suns.
I’ll wait for you inside your heart
I’ll sit and purr
We’ll never part.
Where are my pals
I know they’re near
I feel their hearts
I lick their tears.
