I still remember that day we brought you home. So strong tall and proud you were. With your glossy red coat. The man we took you from called you “Tinker Toy Red” we just called you Red.
You and me never failed to go deep within the woods. Every once in a while getting turned around! But I don’t know how you did it girl but you always got us home. If my folks couldn’t find me they rarely feared cause they knew you were with me. Playing in the mud or water chasing the lawn mower or after dark hanging out in the dog house! I also remember the day you had your first litter!(Including Whiney who became my best friend but sadly died a year ago)
You made a wonderful mother hardly ever leaving them.
Though once or twice you laid on one by mistake!
Then one day when I came for you, you was staggering around throwing up. So we rushed you to the vet. They said you had been poisoned and that we needed to leave you over night. I hugged you but did not kiss you. I wait till you come back in the morning then kiss you. Dear Red you never came back. But one day when we meet again I’ll kiss you then.
