I found your favorite ball today,
And rolled it through the house.
I thought you’d want to play,
Instead you sat there, quiet as a mouse.

I watched you sleeping so content.
I tried to kiss and nudge you,
Yet never a single movement
Did I see from you.

This morning I followed you to the kitchen,
Slowly stopping to watch your every move.
Yet you never paid me attention,
It’s beginning to make me blue.

Why can’t you see?
I’m standing right here.
What has come over you,
And all the sudden tears?

Please don’t cry, for it makes me sad.
I know what you did was right,
I promise I’m not mad,
And one day you’ll know, it will be alright.

I’m in a better place now,
I know you won’t believe.
I’m romping with my friends again,
You’d be so relieved.

Mommy, I’ve never left you
And I’ll always be right here.
Until the angels come for you,
I’ll wait patiently through the years.

In loving memory of Oscar the “Terrier
