My dearest Annabelle,

I am so sorry I that I failed you as a rescue mom. I found you on my porch cold and hungry and took you in even before I had you tested for disease which could have endangered my pets. There was something about you that was different than the other strays in the alley.

I called the rescue and they said they would pay your bill at the vet if I would keep you. Who knew it would cost 1000 dollars due to your illness?

We called you the golden kitty. You blended with my older cats from day one which was quite a shock, but we couldn’t keep the alley out of the cat. You would not stay inside no matter how hard I tried to keep you in.

You were not happy inside. You went out that night and never returned and we were frantically searching for you. I was a mess and could not sleep or eat. I knew you would have returned if you could have. The way I found you will haunt me forever and I swore I would not open my heart again to another stray. You would be proud to know that I went back on my word and fed another stray who appeared on my door a few days later. Andy is alot like you and I can’t keep him in either. I can only find peace in the fact that I made your life a little better for that short time. I hope Andy will not be as curious as you were. I love you forever
