Orange Tabby Cat

MacGyver was special from the moment she was born.

Our Calico Dora came into the house and jumped up on my son’s

lap while he was watching TV. He called me in from the kitchen

because he thought something was wrong with Dora.

By the time I got there a small orange kitten was laying in his lap!

He was so amazed and at 8 years old very impressed that Dora had

trusted him enough to share this special moment with him.

Because he was watching “MacGyver” on TV we decided that

would be her name.

MacGyver was always available to anyone who needed a “purr”.

We called her the “cat for warmth” because she would come to anyone

sick or upset and lay beside them purring until they felt better.

You never even had to call her she just knew.

Geever got us through many hard times and we loved her so much.

In 1998 she got very sick with liver failure and we were told she

only had a week to live.

I spent the whole week holding her close to me and telling

her how much we loved her.

I helped her get into her favorite window and gave her drops of water.

We all held her and thanked her for being with us.

The day she died we went to the vet with her and my son now 18,

held her while she purred her last sweet purr.

Ryan was the first to hold her when she was born

we decided he should be the last.

We stayed with her a long time until we were sure she had

passed over and then went home with only the blanket she had

been wrapped in for comfort.

We put her ashes in a beautiful box made just for her

in her colors of orange and white.

MacGyver never wanted to be a problem.

I didn’t know she was so sick.

Even though I have been told that nothing could have

been done and she wasn’t in pain I will never get over

that I let her down by not knowing.

Even when she was dying she was purring to make

us feel better.

We miss her every day.

Debbie
