Aaron Goode Herring by Donna Goode Herring / Mommy

When I first went to pick out a puppy there were so many there. My mom went with me and I just could not decide which one. One ran to me another cried, but there was this quiet one that had his little bottom teeth sticking out. My mom kept saying get that one. I finally said well nobody will want him because he looks funny. Aaron was the most
lovable, faithful companion.

When he was young he could jump up in your arms. He loved to chase the squirrels and twice chased a skunk in the back yard and got sprayed. Oh my that was a sight. When we would go somewhere he went to Grandma and Grandpas and they loved him and
took wonderful care of him.

Two years ago he had a tumor that was Cancer. The vets told me at age 13 he may not survive the surgery. I prayed, asked the surgeon if he believed in God. I said go to it when he said he did believe. They wanted me to do chemo but I chose not to do it and put him in God’s hands. I was not able to have my own children so he was my child. He really started having a rough time in the next two years getting around he had lost alot of weight.
He was almost blind and deaf.

I came home from work on his last day (he had been with Daddy all day.) and he laid with me for awhile. In a few minutes he had a seizure, it was severe. We rushed him to the ER. It was Saturday late afternoon and our vet was closed. They got the seizure stopped but he kept having them. He struggled to breathe. I just couldn’t let go and after holding him, praying and crying. Everyone kept saying, “Let him go.” His daddy and Grandma were there too. They each held him and said Goodbye. I had so much prayed that God
would take him gently in his sleep.

I ache because it was not that way. He was so tired and I know he hung on longer for me. I loved him with all my heart as did so many others. Jesus is his new owner and Heaven is his new home.
He is no longer in any pain.

Mommas Baby I love you so much,
