Kaylah by Mary Thornton / Mommy

Kaylah was a beautiful white German Shepherd. I just lost her brother just over a year ago. She had severe arthritis in both of her hips. She never, ever complained. She still wanted to just sit outside and just be around her family, even if it hurt her to just get up.

Last saturday she was taken for her annual heartworm and it was discovered that the arthritis medication was destroying her liver. The vet said he was surprised she was still walking around with the elevated levels that she had. He cut her medication in half and she began having trouble. I took her in today, March 21, 2006 and when the vet walked in, I already knew. I told her to go and find Kato and get him under control. She was put to rest in my arms just as I found her when she was a puppy. She just climbed up in my lap at 4 weeks old and laid down. She fell asleep and left this world into a world with no more pain, no more pills and no more pokes.

She and Kato are in doggie day care in Heaven waiting for me. No more pain for you my sweet Kaylah. No more pain. Go and run free and I will see you on the other side. I love you with all of my heart and soul and already miss you. Watch over us as you did when you were here. Run free Kaylah; like I know that you can.

Love,
Kaylah
