Poopy by Janice / Momma

Poopy came to be a part of our family because my daughter just had to have a Yorkie puppy. Thats all she wanted for Christmas. Her dad and I decided we would try our best to get her one. Of course she had to promise she would be the primary caregiver of this puppy because I just absolutely dislike dogs. We looked all over for one and finally found one at a breeder in our hometown. When we were able to bring him home we found out we were actually buying him from what
I would consider a puppy mill.

Poopy was about 8 weeks old and I had asked to see the mother dog. When the breeder brought her out I could see that she was already pregnant with another litter of puppies. When she brought him out, he was covered in pet urine. He looked so pitiful. We brought him home and gave him a bath and presented him to our daughter. She awed over him for exactly two days and then decided she had a life of her own and couldn’t take time out for a puppy. So he became my baby. Since everyone had their own lives, he was always here with me. He followed me all over the house and if I sat down he would snuggle up to me and sit with me. When we played he would howl like he was being hurt so I would stop and he would tackle me to get me to do it again. I think it was his way of laughing.

Well, one weekend we had company for a few days. On their last day at my house one of the guests said she dropped and lost a pill that her daughter takes for A.D.D. I looked all over the room and couldn’t find it anywhere, so I decided I would look again after they packed their things and left in a few hours. I shut the door but the kids kept opening it. Anyway, Later on that night I could tell Poopy was acting strange and tired so I put him in his cage he slept in with a bowl of water and a bowl of food. Hoping he would be better in the morning. He had a sensitive stomach and the guest kids kept feeding him their food from their plates. I went to the bathroom in the middle of the night and he was sitting in his cage looking out at me. The next morning he was laying on his side and couldn’t move. He was breathing, just not moving.

We threw some clothes on and raced him to the vet. He had been having seizures and by the time we got him to the vet he was brain damaged and blind so I had to make that awful choice to let him go peacefully or make him stay here with me. I was so tempted to keep him here with me. He was just a baby. Only 7 months old and my best friend. This has absolutely been the hardest thing for me to ever do. But I let him go.

I feel so lost without him following me around and just looking at me with those adorable big black eyes. I miss you so much Poopy, and I’m sorry your life was cut so short. I love you baby.

Hugs and Kisses to you.
