After going through a very hard time in 2003-4, loosing my husband’s mam and dad, our beloved staffordshire bull terrier at the grand old age of 16 and losing our business we thought life could not get any worse. My husband was very down and could not seem to pull himself back up again. The house seemed so empty so I decided to rescue another dog to give my husband a sense of purpose again. We went to the local dog pound and chose the most beautiful cream dog. On taking him home we got him to the vet only to discover that he had a very bad heart murmer but we kept him anyway. It turned out that he was a Wheaten Terrier and when he was groomed looked absolutely gorgeous. He stuck to my husband like he was glued to his leg and really saved his life. The whole family loved him because he was so laid back
that sometimes he was horizontal!
At the begining of the summer last year he got scared with the first thunderstorms. He unfortunately had a heart attack and went down hill rapidly. He lived for three weeks after that and then he died. The funny thing was that on the night he died we stayed downstairs with him and he managed to crawl to my husband’s side as if he was asking his approval to go. When we told him to run free then he died peacefully in my husbands arms. Devastation does not cover how we felt but life goes on and we have now rescued another dog. He fills the gap that Monty left but will never be forgotton by us. Thank you for letting us share your life Monty. Run Free. x
Run Free Forever,
