Lana by Donald Riley / A Daddy’s Car Buddy

This is a letter to Lana. I got Lana from the pound about a little over a year ago. I had to put her down on 10/06/07.

Lana,
I know you were just a dog. Yesteday when I had to make the choice of putting to sleep I felt so bad. As I am typing this I am crying. I miss taking care of you. I only had you a short time but it felt like a life time. I have the pictures of you to look at. I will miss taking you places in the car. I know you loved going places with me. I keep hoping this is all a bad dream and your OK. I remember the first time I seen you at the pound. I told the keeper I would like to fill out paperwork for you. You barked at me in agreement. I did not pick you, you picked us. I know Mommy misses you like crazy. We both love you so much. You know Daddy tried to help you get better. I will miss holding you and having you sleep by my feet. I was always glad to see you at the end of a day. Lana my Nana is in heaven please stay with her until I get up there. She will love you almost as much as I do. Please be a good dog & know you took a piece of us with you. I will never forget you. Riding in the car like you were a queen. I will think of you often. I love you!!!!! XOXOXO
Daddy

My Lana,
Lana
