My husband and I got married in 2003. Two months later, being both animal lovers, we started volunteering at the Berea Animal Rescue. We knew we wanted a dog. But we both wanted to make sure we saved one who needed us most. One day, we got home after spending the whole morning walking the dogs and were both collapsed on our bed. My husband couldn’t relax due to thinking about an older dog there. He got up and said he had to go get Spencer and we should do a sleep over night since we could do that with any dog since we worked there. When he came home with Spencer, who was at least 8 years old, we never even considered bringing him back. He was
the best friend any one could ever have.
Our neighbors would call us and ask us when we got he invisible fence. Since our dog from the moment we took him in, never left our yard. And we live on a busy main road. They couldn’t believe he would not ever leave the yard. He would sit in the driveway and we never had to worry about him taking off. He loved hot dogs! We have had him for almost 10 years. We lost him this past Wednesday. We are both having such a hard time. We just picked up his ashes this afternoon. We are taking his leash and his ashes for one more
walk around the block.
I will never find another dog like him. I miss him so much. I used to sing a song to him that I made up since he was all black with
white fur over certain parts.
“My puppy has marshmallow paws, fluffy white clouds over his claws. My puppy has a marshmallow chest, but his handsome face is still the best, My puppy has a marshmallow chin, that gets all dirty
