Bubbles came into our lives on January 2nd, 1994. She was born on November 10, 1993 and arrived as a Christmas gift for our brother.
Bubbles was a small black and white beauty with beautiful markings and everyone who saw her marveled at her sweet face. She was a small cat her whole life. Bubbles needed time to trust people. I took my time with her, called her by name, gently stroked her while she slept and kissed her as she woke up. In response, she would quietly
peek at me and purr happily.
In later years, she learned her name and would come when called, even from another room. Her favorite things to do was to jump in my lap during breakfast and sitting in her bed at the computer desk for some love and kisses. If people treated her kindly and with patience, it was well worth the wait to get to know her.
A day did not go by without a kiss and a purr, a contented yawn and a stretch, a head rub, a tickle under the chin. A cat could not have had a more loving family and she knew it.
In 2003, she began to become mournfully sick, and our vet confirmed chronic kidney failure. It was a sad day to find our beloved cat beset by cruel fate. She didn’t like getting a needle, but she was very forgiving and would sit in my lap soon after being stuck… once she had your trust, it was not to be broken. She was loyal and loving throughout her unhappy moments with the needles and IVs.
On August 6th, 2004, our sweet Bubbles’ time ran short. She was becoming too sick and it wasn’t fair to prolong her suffering. We wanted her to be free from pain. We took her to the vet and sat her on my lap, I talked with her, telling her we loved her, what a nice kitty she was. Too soon, she curled up and relaxed against me, passing into paradise where she will be cared for until we meet again.
We love you Bubbles, be happy where you are. You were the sweetest cat to those who knew you and were most loving to those who cared for you. We’ll never forget that little face with the big eyes.
Godspeed, little one.
